Future

Who knows?

As a Project Manager I’m the one people turn to when they want something done or need a problem solving. I work across every department and see the work through from brief to delivery. It’s an intense job in a fast paced industry and it can be challenging but the pay offs are so worth it.

I got into advertising in a slightly round-about way. After studying Anthropology at Cambridge I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, so I decided to give production a go. I worked for an events company on a world record company launch and as a production assistant for a film specialist before seeing an advert for the J Walter Thompson Project Management Grad scheme.

It offered the variety and creativity I wanted mixed with an opportunity to use my degree in an interesting way so I applied. I draw on my anthropological background a lot at work. From obvious instances like reviewing briefs or creative work, but also more generally as I find agency life and advertising itself really interesting from a cultural perspective. When I applied, I didn’t know a lot about the industry – but I couldn’t have had a better introduction. From managing shoots and leading web builds, to working in Japan and Dubai, this is definitely an industry which will keep you on your toes!
