I’ve always enjoyed doing things that capture people’s imagination, but I never really knew what to do with it. This is why I had random pastimes like producing music, writing poetry, dancing, making sculptures, to name a few. I even studied Media at GCSE and A-Level in the hope of finding my calling.
I also studied Media and Cultural Studies at university, but this still didn’t scratch my creative itch. It felt like I was in an empty shell marriage, I just stuck with my course for the sake of the degree.
As luck would have it, in one random seminar I had an epiphany that was prompted by a guest speaker. He spoke of an industry where your aptitude is determined by how many people’s imagination you’re able to capture… Advertising! I was sold.
So after my degree I did my research, stalked a few ad agencies, networked a lot, went to ad school, and networked some more, and eventually ended up answering my calling. My formal job title is Creative Copywriter, and as a Creative I get to dream up ideas that capture people’s imagination. I love it!
